So this is half in jest, but also half serious, with the winters that Michigan has every year, I'm starting to think there needs to be a push for a Winter Olympic Games to be held here.  We definitely have the snow and freezing temperatures, and for sure enough hotels/lodging in the Metro Detroit area for it to be held in the lower Genesee/upper Oakland county region.

Detroit 2018 anyone? ;)

If you want a cool summer and a bitter winter, move to the northern plains or New England. If you want a cool summer and a mild winter, move to the California coast. When I lived in San Diego, it never got into the 80's unless the Santa Ana winds were blowing, and it was too windy to go outside. Plus, you can go to the desert a few miles away for heat, or the mountains about an hour away and there will be snow if you needs some variety.I would say the coast of California. From San Francisco to Los Angeles to San Diego. Average highs in San Francisco are only in the 60's while Los Angeles and San Diego have highs only in the mid 70's usually and San Diego only has about four days a year that reach 90 degrees. But go only a few miles inland and the temps can almost 20 degrees warmer. Also Alaska doesn't get hot weather but the southern parts like Juneau and Anchorage can get into the 60's and 70's.
